Sunday Service ‘Flower Communion’- Penny Quest, C & G member
We have been asked to lead a Flower Communion on Sunday 4th June to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the first Flower Communion which took place in Czechoslovakia, organised by Rev. Dr. Norbert Capek, who founded the Unitarian Church in Prague in 1921. He felt that the traditional Christian Communion Service, with bread and wine, was unacceptable to many members of his congregation, so he turned to the native beauty of their countryside for elements of a new communion. Please do bring a flower to place in a vase at the beginning of the service, and you’ll then have the chance to take a different flower at the end, thus symbolising an exchange, the giving and receiving, through our human fellowship in worship.
